A few notes: the content of this DVD is made up of 3 MPEG files that were NOT captured by me, but I had them on my PC. I can't remember where I got them, probably in a trade and/or downloaded. The Sonding Out show has a couple of 1-second freezes and/or pixelation. These artifacts were on the MPEGs as I got them. I opted not to cut those frames out, but in retrospect maybe I should have. They really don't detract from this otherwise excellent cmplete version (the best I've seen of this show). It appears that this was a rebroadcast maybe from late 2006 or early 2007.

KTS Box Set Vol. 1 & 2

Jesus and Mary Chain
Pearl Jam
Ice Cube
Porno For Pyros
Red Hot Chili Peppers

These are all fresh rips from the original discs, done just for these remasters. Over 6hrs of music. None of this material is officially released. I think most of these are complete sets, except Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers. 1992 was my first and favorite Lollapalooza year.

All shows audience recordings, all sounded so-so but needed a little help. Track splits are all re-done. I created a separate txt file and folder for each disc.

Included are scans of the box set cover. Vol 1 cover I scanned myself. Vol 2 cover vanished long ago so I found images online.
Also included a scan of my ticket from the Dallas 1992-09-06 show. What a fantastic day... :-)

Concert before a live audience filmed tonight and broadcast July 26th on ORTF Channel 1 programme 'Discorama' (Denise Glaser - 10:00 - 10:20 pm).
The programme was originally set to air on July 7th but The Kinks' segment was hastily removed two days prior.
The show's directors were horrified upon previewing the band's live act, which was deemed too wild for primetime TV.
However, public outcry from the programme's young viewers resulted in The Kinks' segment being reinstated on a later show.
A brief clip of the band performing 'Louie Louie' will later be exhumed and used in a 1993 French TV special about the band, indicating that the broadcast still exists (...)

This is a nice sounding recording from the re-united Doobie Brothers. The first 4 tracks are from an in studio appearance on the Johnnie Walker Show. The band drops acoustic versions of "Long Train Runnin'" and "Black Water". Patrick Simmons takes on the vocal duties for the Michael McDonald written "Takin' It To The Streets", and does a nice job at it too.

The Band - 1971-05-27 - Copenhagen, DK (AUD/FLAC)

KB Hallen Copenhagen Denmark

Received this copy perhaps in 2000 and was labelled as being from a 1st generation reel (AUD:MR>RR>CD).

CD clone>EAC>FLAC on 2015-02-27

I do not recall the specific information about the analog>digital transfer and from whom I got this from.

However, this is a sonic upgrade to previous versions I have had of this show. That includes the incomplete portion of this show that appears on the bootleg "Live In Copenhagen-Run For Cover 2001" and the one that would appear on trade lists prior to the year 2001.

"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" is not cut on this version and many of those pauses are also not here. Unfortunately, 'The Shape Im In' is completely missing and the beginning of "The Unfaithful Servant" is clipped from this copy though. I have included both uncut as filler at the end from an unknown generation audience source.

(The Shape Im In)
1. Time To Kill
2. The Weight
3. King Harvest Has Surely Come
4. Strawberry Wine
5. Rockin' Chair

March 31, 1974

While this is a mighty fine set on its own (two sets, actually!), I guess that at this point in rock history reconsideration it's better known as "that time Badfinger 'closed' for Big Star's still-officially-unreleased mighty bitchen March '74 show in Cambridge" ( Which is fine. Some clown wrote in Uncut (a magazine I otherwise like a lot) that Big Star had "as many hits as they deserved" — that guy's gonna get bitch-slapped by ME real effin' quick. But I digress! The thing is this double Badfinger show deserves to be on the tracker again, so here it is, with minimal Manimal modifications:

- Added pdf artwork created by a Dime member back in 2008, I believe (thanks!)
- Added tags, including "digital artwork" taken from the aforementioned pdf
- Changed filenames
- Created new ffp and md5 files

Total duration: 57:13

The sound quality of this release is great. The material is the same as (and most likely copied from) Possum Belly Overalls. Produced by Bob Johnson, this session was three days after the Nashville Skyline LP was recorded in the same studio, with different musicians. The 1970 material is available through the CBS  Studios Reference Recording archives. It was produced by Bob Johnson as well. This session also produced the "If Not For You" version that was released on the official CBS LP 'The Bootleg Series 1-3"

Geetarz Comments:
Disc 1 and the first two tracks of disc 2 comprise the the 'Rockpalast' television broadcast recorded 16 February 1979 at Studio-L. This includes the retake of "Sultans of Swing" which was not broadcast originally. Disc 2 tracks 3 - 12 are sourced from the German Radio broadcast of the show the next night in Cologne, Germany, on February 17, 1979. Together, they comprise both nights, and are an essential "Top 10" part of any DS core collection. I have quite deliberatedly named this set as "Cologne '79" to distinguish it from the plethora of earlier versions of just "Rockpalast" that are in circulation.

Please note, the Rockpalast material was recorded and presented in mono. I remain deeply convinced that 99.9% of the problem most people have when they see "mono" is psychological, not aural. This mono DS recording is - to me - better and gets more ear time than 99.9999% of the items in my collection. 'Nuff Said.

The Rockpalast material is from the digital satellite rebroadcast in the late 1990s (1998, I think) and should be a qualitative and quantitative improvement over the copies most people have of this - in fact, it's so much better than what has been commonly available that it may sound completely new to those already familiar with the material.

Here is the ready to burn HD Video for anyone who wants it,see below for details on how to do it if you dont know, my personal tips for this are 1. use good quality disc (verbatim are good),2. burn slowly 2.4 is ideal 3.Verify disc and 4. while its burning dont do anything else on your PC

Thanks for this tutorial STLBlues

This is a High Definition video which can be burned to a standard DVD-R or DVD+R blank disc. The resulting disc can only be played in compatible Blu-Ray devices such as a standalone Blu-Ray player, Playstation 3, or BD-ROM drive. This cannot be played in any DVD player, including some DVD-ROM drives, after it's been burned. However, the files can always be dumped back onto a computer hard-drive after it's been burned with any DVD-ROM or BD-ROM drive. For computer playback, you must have the appropriate hardware and software applications. At a minimum, you will need a 2.0Ghz Dual Core CPU with at least 256MB of
graphics memory. There is also the option of recording to a solid-state memory card (SDHC, Memory Stick), then played from many Blu-Ray disc players, PS3, or select Panasonic HDTV's.

Your standalone Blu-Ray player must be capable of AVCHD playback. Most Blu-Ray players are capable of doing this.

Any tool to burn a disk will do, but it must be able to burn a DVD using the UDF 2.50 file system. The UDF 2.60 file system is also acceptable. Nero Burning ROM can do this starting from version 7. You can also use free tools like ImgBurn, which can be downloaded from

Imgburn Step-By-Step Instructions:
* First, switch to "Build" mode by selecting Mode > Build from the main menu.
* For source, select the directory that contains BDMV directory.
* For target specify any name and location of your liking, this is where the disc image will be written.
* Select Options page in the tabbed notebook on the right, specify UDF file system, revision 2.50.
* Keep "Recurse subdirectories" checked.
* Press the folder icon > disc icon button to write the image.

After this process is done, locate where you saved the image file (.iso), then burn to a regular DVD-R or DVD+R disc. If using a standalone Blu-Ray player, make sure it will play which ever disc (-R or +R) you are using. I recommend using a burning speed of 4x or less.

Once completed, you now have a high definition video on a regular DVD ready to be played on your favorite Blu-Ray device.

JEMS loves to present vintage taper series and we're pleased to inaugurate another one, this time from the archive of our new friend JF, who taped in and around Southern California in the '70s and later resumed taping in Boston in the '80s. He frequented smaller venues, like the Troubadour and the Roxy, leaving arenas to others and leaning more towards the folksier, jazzier and eclectic sides of rock.

His '70s tapes were made on what I would describe as the kind of rectangular, portable, C-cel powered cassette recorder that my family and surely many others had in the '70s, either a Panasonic or a Sony (we're looking through internet pictures to figure out which one). While I used ours to record myself, my friends and my sister around the house, the teenage JF figured: Why not try taking it into concerts?

I only learned what recorder JF used after I had heard some of his tapes and I have to say I was mildly shocked. Given the gear, his tapes are remarkably clear and judging by his recordings from the Troubadour, he knew the right place to set up.

We kick things off with a fine representation of JF's work at the Troub, capturing a highly entertaining and previously uncirculated set by Tom Waits. It is an appealing, you-are-there sort of recording that seems to balance the music and the ambiance just right. Samples provided.

You might have noticed above that JEMS transferred from a reel to reel source. That's because JF, due to tight budgets at the time, routinely transferred his master tapes to reels in order to save money. Because he recorded the masters in mono, he would dub the finished recording onto a single track of a reel, allowing him to fit four or more shows on a single 7" tape and reuse the cassette for the next show. That wasn't true in all instances, but it is for most. And yes, in hindsight, he is still kicking himself about it.

And yet, based on the tapes we've transferred so far, JF did a fine job dubbing off his masters, and the Waits reel doesn't sound any worse for wear despite the one-generation loss.

JF was also an active trader at the time and we've already found a few uncirculated gems from the early '70s in his archive that we'll be getting in the series as well.

While I'm only an appreciator and not aficionado of Tom Waits, I thoroughly enjoyed this recording as he gives nearly every song a long, at times hilarious introduction. It ends on a fine note, too, with covers of Sam Cooke's "Cupid" and Peggy Lee's "Fever."

Thanks so much to JF, who reached out to us on DIME and offered to let us curate his archive, which had been sitting in boxes, 6000 miles away from where he lives today, for 20+ years. Like so many early tapers, he had great stories to tell and the memories flooded back as we sorted through tapes. We are pleased to be able to bring his work to all of you. Please let him know through your comments that you are too.

Thanks as well to mi amigo, mjk5510, helping make the JF series happen.
