Orchestra conducted by William "Bill" Conti. From Wikipedia: "...an American composer and conductor best known for his film scores, including Rocky (and all but one of the five sequels), For Your Eyes Only, and The Right Stuff, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Score."

draftervoi's original notes:
Chicago SuperGroups In Concert was the first "SuperGroups" syndicated broadcast on May 12, 1979. The show was pressed on three LPs, but only five sides had music. The sixth side is blank. The cue sheet lists the show as a production of American Broadcasting Companies. There's an ad in Billboard on Aug. 18, 1979 that says 300 ABC stations carried the show, so that may be a good guess as to how many copies of this show were pressed.

The Chicago disc labels are numbered with the catalog number OCC 101. The next SuperGroups show I've identified is Foreigner, which used the code OCC and either 201 or 203 (I've seen both listed, so consider that number unconfirmed). The Foreigner show was identifed as broadcast on May 19, 1979 but is not mentioned in the Billboard ad...

...which says the next show in the series was the Moody Blues. With the Moody Blues show, the series used a different code: The Moody Blues were SGC 101, followed by the Allman Brothers SGC 102, Peter Frampton SGC 103, the Cars SGC 104, Blondie SGC 105, Cheap Trick SGC 106, Journey SGC 107 and Alice Cooper SGC 108.

The earliest of these shows were distributed in boxes, with similar cover designs. The background of each box was a solid color covered in a pattern of dots, with the artist's name on the front and the show credits on the back. The cue sheets were printed on premium paper, and the discs housed in plastic-lined disc sleeves. Occasionally they "themed" the color of the box: The Moody Blues box is blue, and Blondie is yellow.

The original SuperGroups format had live concerts interspersed with short interviews, and no commercials. A "SuperGroups Theme Song" played at the beginning and end of the show. At least two of the shows (Foreigner and Alice Cooper) combined previously unreleased live material with several "faked" tracks from studio albums overdubbed with audience noise.

Sometime in 1980 they dropped the premium presentation (boxes, cue sheets, disc liners) and added prerecorded commercials. Disc labels switched to a solid color - I've seen red, yellow, and silver used, and the numbering system was discontinued. Some of these are listed as "produced by D.I.R. Broadcasting Corp. for Super Groups In Concert" but also carry the ABC name. Spelling of the shows name often shifts from "SuperGroups" to "Super Groups." There was also a series using the Super Groups name called "A Night On The Road," produced by G.K. Productions with ABC.

This version was digitized from the original syndicated radio discs and declicked in Audacity in September 2014. Included are 300 dpi scans of the front and back cover, a disc label, and all four pages of the cue sheet. Flac files of wavs. The only thing I edited out was the 700 Hz test tone.

There's another version circulating with "Mongonucleosis" and "Got To Get You Into My Life" but without "I Just Want To Be Free." I haven't heard it, so I don't know if was also a SuperGroups show, an original over-the-air broadcast, syndicated by a different company...or perhaps two versions of the show were produced.

O2 ABC

Recorded from raised platform to right of stage
Recorded using ZOOM H2 - Memory Card - PC - Adobe - Audacity - TLH
Once on my PC I put the raw file through Adobe Audition to try and reduce a bit of the high frequency loss which appears every so often.
I then tracked using Audacity before converting to FLAC using TLH.
At times the high frequencies get slightly muffled and I now realise it coincided with me taking pictures (some of which are included)
Wasn't going to upload but on listening it's not too bad but could have been better.
The band themselves are on fire.
I tried to edit it down to 80 mins (ie one CD) but just couldn't fit.
No fades but I split it with CD2 starting at track 09 Euphoria.

Again a great show recorded from the far right of the stalls with a good unobstructed view to the stage. Last song of set 2 is cut and the encores are missing due to a lack of internal memory of my Nagra Pico...damn it...I thought it REALLY had 4GB of internal memory...it turned out it didn't...hope you still enjoy this wonderful concert.

This is what gsparaco posted at collectorsmusicreviews.com:
The tape documenting Pink Floyd’s December 5, 1972 Brussels show is a recent find. Produced by a taper named OPUS 5, it is a very good to borderline excellent stereo recording. The needle seems to hit the red too often plaguing the tape with upper end distortion throughout the concert. It is slight but noticeable and mars what could have been the best recorded concert from Pink Floyd’s short tour of Europe in late ‘72. There are a few cuts between songs in the second half of the concert, but none during songs. Every performance is complete.
Pink Floyd starts off the show by playing the Dark Side Of The Moon suite as they have for the entire year. It is remarkable how little the piece evolved during the year compared to the studio recording. The two “traveling” pieces, “On The Run” and “The Great Gig In The Sky”, underwent several changes throughout the year, but none would suggest what they would eventually become in the studio.
The Brussels performance is notable for the nasty, abrasive, loud buzzing coming from the PA at the start of “Breathe.” Several times (specifically at 1:25, 1:46, 1:51, and 3:46) electronic noises startle the audience (and band), throwing off their timing. The band continue to play the song but David Gilmour waits before singing the song until the problem is worked out.
The VC3-dominated “On The Run” is entirely a studio creation and wouldn’t sound like the studio version until 1973. In 1972 it was still an instrumental jam session. Whether the equipment problems at the start of the show continued or how much they bothered the band is uncertain. But Gilmour sounds completely out of sorts during the instrumental, playing an out of tune strumming tune over the rhythm section.
“Time” starts off effectively, but this time Richard Wright makes a big mistake by singing the final verse as the first. He and Gilmour giggle at the mistake and bravely continue on.
After “Great Gig” the performance improves. “Money” builds in intensity and “Us And Them” is quite unsettling. “Any Colour You Like” is an effective jam session and Roger Waters’ big contribution to the suite, “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse”, ends the first half of the the show nicely.
The second half “oldies” section starts off with “One Of These Days” from Meddle. Very early on Waters makes a big mistake, playing the descending riff on bass guitar several measures too early, throwing off the rest of the band. First Gilmour, then Wright, and now Waters cause a big, embarrassing mistake. Nick Mason is the only one to not have have some kind of meltdown during the performance.
“Careful With That Axe, Eugene” is very effective. Waters recites his Scottish Pict style poetry in the middle before the expected blood curdling scream and instrumental cacophony. The poem sounds different than the one recited in Zürich several nights before.
“Echoes” redeems the show. The distortion in the tape curiously enhances the brutality of the heavy-metal sections of the piece. The epic closes the show and the band return to the stage to play “Childhood’s End” as an encore.
Brussels Affair is a great release worth having. The mistakes and imperfect performances are exactly the reason why we love and collect bootlegs. It’s much more interesting hearing borderline disasters like this than rote-perfect performances (or the studio recordings for the umpteenth time). It is great to finally see Sigma release something new instead of reissuing their catalogue in “improved” editions.

Notes:
The first of 2 nights taping Collective Soul and the taping Gods were on my side in Mankato. Vetter Stone Amphitheater is a beautiful natural amphitheater located right off the banks of the Minnesota River. There is a pit area directly below the stage and concentric stone terraces surrounding it giving you an awesome almost unobstructed view of the stage (perfect for filming). I arrived at the venue about 5 hours before the show in order to get a great spot for my lawn chair directly in front of the soundboard and virtually dead center facing the stage.

I sat through the few opening bands and watched the venue fill up so and was worried I would get the dreaded drunk tall guy right in front of me but thankfully he didn't never came. I lucked out and had a group of kids sitting in front of me which gave me a clear shot of the stage over their heads. There is one guy who was sitting in front of me and his head barely sticks out on the bottom of the frame but not that bad. During a few small spots a drunk girl who felt the need to stand up and face the crowd stood up directly in front of me but thankfully I patched these spots with an alternate angle I downloaded off of youtube.

One interesting part of this show right after Precious Declarationwhen Ed notices security hassling the audience for filming. Before the next song he told security that the audience can film and do whatever they want causing the rest of the band to look at each other in confusion. I have a feeling that open filming is not a common occurance at a Collective Soul show.

The audio for this show is really nice and one of the better IEM/Audio matrixes I have made. It consists of Dean Roland's ear monitor feed which is stereo and is mixed with my mic audio which also turned out great. He is naturally higher in the mix but thankfully there is no metronome and drum effects which are in the rest of the earfeeds from the band. I'm glad I didn't record Ed Roland's earfeed because he had constant problems with it throughout the night. Right before Run you can see him get totally pissed at his monitor man. You would think these monitor guys would get it right but they seem to be a constant problem with a lot of bands that I see.

Last year, when the audience tape for Led Zeppelin's New Orleans show first circulated, Empress Valley were the first to issue a six cd set on Bourbon Street Renegades last September featuring both the new tape and the old soundboard source that has been circulating for about twenty years. The Witch Queen is the latest release on the Tarantura label and like the previous issue presents the audience and soundboard recordings spread over six discs. It isn't, however, a simple copy and remaster of the Empress Valley. This presents another first generation transfer from the master tapes with Tarantura doing their own work and presents a completely different listening experience. The Empress Valley was clear enough, but did contain noticeable amounts of hiss and sounded dull. The Witch Queen, by contrast, is a dramatic improvement. There is not a trace of hiss in the audience recording and is significantly more clear, powerful and punchy. Speaking personally, I didn't realize how poor the audience tape Empress Valley used until I heard this and was able to compare the two. Further, Empress Valley treats the audience recording as an appendix to the soundboard recording by placing it on the second three discs and presenting it "as is", without filling the cuts with the soundboard source. Tarantura emphasizes the audience by placing it on the first three discs and using the soundboard to fix two holes. The first occurs during "The Rain Song" where the soundboard recordingfades in at 6:59 and runs until about 7:36 with a small cut at 7:21. The second is in "Moby Dick" between 17:59 and 18:59. The fades are very smooth and gentle. The second three cd set contains the soundboard recording and like the Empress Valley release uses the audience recording to fill some of the holes. Both begin with the tuning and approximately the first two minutes of "Rock And Roll" before the soundboard recording fades in. On Bourbon Street Renegades the right channel of the soundboard tape becomes unstable for several seconds, but Tarantura use more of the audience recording to eliminate that flaw. On The Witch Queen, the soundboard is cut at 7:18 in "The Rain Song" and at 18:00 in "Moby Dick" with no filler. The audience recording is used again between for twenty seconds in "Moby Dick" between 19:38 and 19:58 and in "Whole Lotta Love" between 7:28 to 8:03. Empress Valley make the same splices in their version of the soundboard recording but are much more abrupt whereas Tarantura use very smooth fades between the two tape sources. There are more detailed comments about the concert in the review of the Empress Valley release, but generally speaking the upgrade in sound quality with the audience recording vastly improves one's appreciation for the actual performance. For all the years with only the soundboard recording, which makes the mistakes painfully obvious, this was considered a good but not great show in the early part of Zeppelin's biggest tour to date. The first release of the audience recording raised the appreciation higher, but hearing the tape on this release raises it even higher. New Orleans is one of the highlights in the first leg of the ninth tour and this tape is one of only a handful that is truly able to capture Zeppelin's "power, mystery, and the hammer of the gods" aesthetic. The Witch Queen, so named for a comment Plant makes before "Moby Dick", is beautifully packaged. Each of the two three-cd sets come in their unique four fold glossy cardboard gatefold sleeves. Each is adorned with a collage of photographs of the band and medieval woodcuts of witches and covens to fit the theme of the title. The two fit into the box and the cover art is different depending upon the number. LTD#001~050 is the St. Michael cover which is a variation of the famous painting by Raphael. St. Michael's shield, which in the original has the Cross Of St. George, is replaced by the four symbols. LTD#051~100 is the Pan & Nymph cover and finally LTD#101~120 is the Jimmy Page for promo sampler. One the back is an old painting of a baphomet celebrating the black mass to a coven of witches. The people behind Tarantura have an excellent artistic sense and this box set is simply beautiful. Overall, in comparing the Empress Valley with the Tarantura, the latter is a worthy upgrade on all counts: editing, sound quality, and presentation and is worth picking up even if one already owns the earlier release.
