Notes:
Outdoor show at a ballpark on Friday night, so expect a bit of crowd noise here and there, not too bad really. Also, a fan fainted a few feet in front of me at the end of Simple Twist, and there's a minor disturbance as he was attended to. Otherwise, sound is fine. I'll post a sample below.

Notes:
This features the cool guest appearance at the end as well as Stu Kimball absent for the first 3 songs. This venue doesn't have good sound and I had noisy neighbors of all stripes (know-it-alls, clappers, talkers), plus I had my levels a little low. I did my best. Most of the peak reduction is at the end and beginning of songs. Bob was posing a lot also, which just egged some of 'em on.

This recording sounds great. It's not even dynamically compressed to hell like some of the Depeche Mode radio broadcasts. It's not the complete show, but it is a complete broadcast. There are a couple small nonintrusive radio station watermarks between tracks 4 and 5, and 9 and 10.

Notes:
A part of North-American leg of David Gilmour's 1984 'About Face' world tour. Complete recording from alternate source (Recorder 2). Recorder 1 („The British Are Coming”) is surely better. Here sound is distant and a bit muffled. Audience is enthusiastic and very loud as well. Although the source tapes were low generation, final effect isn’t spectacular - but acceptable of course. Well, always this is second source, complete and about four minutes longer than Recorder 1. Discs' division compatible with the course of the show. Very carefully indexed.

FULL SHOW (126:47 min.)

Notes:
Here's last sunday's SIMPLE MINDS show from Koeln (for some of you known as Cologne). As they stated before, the setlist consists of songs pulled only from their first 5 albums. So, not the real big hits are played here, but and interesting mesh from before their stadium days. Even if a lot of people hoped for "Alive and kicking" or else, the band followed their strict rule; something really sympathetic. Beyond this I can't tell you anything more, as I don't know much beyond the airwave songs, and most likely will never know. But - as sometimes with some recordings - I don't see any reason why not to post this show. As our team knows, there are a lot of Simple Minds-Afficinadoes here, who will love to listen to this. Maybe some of you were there??? For all of you: Enjoy it. The tape does not transfer the boiling temperatures, but maybe you switch on your heating, so you can relive the show in your living/soundroom.

Elton John did not perform many shows in 1977, but among the ones that he did, were 6 stripped down "solo" performances at the Rainbow Theatre during the first week of May. The exact details of this recording are a little hard to pinpoint online, due to the fact that there are several different dates listed; depending on what site you go to. I have seen it listed as May 2nd and May 13th, but according to a few pretty accurate Elton tour schedules that I came across, he did not play at all on the 13th. Many of what seem to be the most creditable sources that I found, state that this recording is from May 7th, 1977...which would make it the last night of the Rainbow Theatre run.

The show is ballad heavy, but pretty amazing considering that the entire performance is just Elton and his piano; with Ray Cooper accompanying him with percussion on several tracks. The sound quality is great; some very minor hiss and the occasional minor "pop" here and there...but overall superb.

The very beginning of t11 is cut because I was changing tapes on the recorder. Jim White played drums with Mark Moore who opened the evening, and that will be shortened and seeded soon. Smoke played supporting Cat Power, and is still on cassette. Stay tuned for other hobby files including: Broadcast, Do Make Say Think, Low, and Uz Jmez Doma --- all on MD ---- Freakwater, Papa M --- from SBD. It'll be a while before those are all prepared, but I want to return the many favors. Stay busy, everybody, and thanks for the share. Special Thanks to the soundman, who I never did get a copy to ... hopefully he's on STG. Encoded to FLAC by CitizenGatsby a.k.a. PeppermintSwirlGirl, 7/23/05.

Notes:
On July 4, 1987, 25 years ago today, HBO broadcasted a special concert event entitled Welcome Home. The concert was designed to raise money to support homeless Viet Nam veterans. The roster for the show included Stevie Wonder, CSN, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson and Neil Diamond, with John Fogerty closing the night. According to the notes that accompanied this tape, during rehearsals, Fogerty played only solo material, as he was still in a dispute with his record company over his recordings with Creedence. When he hit the stage, he seemed intent on continuing to ignore his past, as the band began playing Old Man Down The Road. And then it happened, one of those magical moments that occur just once in a musical lifetime.
Fogerty stopped, huddled up with his band mates, and then launched into Born on The Bayou!
The rest of the set was all Creedence classics, including Bad Moon Rising. Who’ll Stop The Rain, Down On The Corner and Proud Mary, just to name a few. From that show forward, CCR material would again grace every Fogerty concert! Download this SBD recording to own this classic moment, but remember, it’s actually the 2nd time that Fogerty played a Creedence tune after going almost 15 years without one!

TheCommish notes:
* Track 2 is only a musical intro (i.e., no lyrics & is NOT the entire song)
* When burning the show to CD, you can omit Track 12 if desired (since it's not a music track and Fogerty is not present in it); if you decide to leave that track out, Track 11 and Track 13 flow together pretty seemlessly.
* You may also decide to leave out Track 10 (approx. 1:26 of audience cheering) when burning to CD. If you do, Track 09 and Track 11 should play together seemlessly.

Editing notes:
* Re-tracked show (combined WAV files in Nero, then re-split with CD Wave)
* To adjust for the gradual volume fade-in on the source, volume was increased in Track 01 (+12dB for 0:00-0:02, +6dB for 0:02-0:09, and +4dB for 0:09-0:18); as a result, the track volume is now much more even

Notes by the taper:
Recorded at 20 feet from left stack.

Odd bit of chatter/shouting/clapping as you'd expect from a headlining outdoor festival set, but overall I'm pretty pleased with this.

I also recorded this with CA14 cards>iRiver as a back up and my mate Vault63 recorded it with MCSM-4 mics>iRiver, so we'll stick those up sometime as well.

Not everyone's idea of a perfect outdoor festival headline act based on the size of the crowd and the reaction of my wife, but I really enjoyed their set.

Another great Summer Sundae, cracking weather, atmosphere and beer. I also taped a shed load of other bands:
Y Niwi, Kyte, Datarock, Patrick Wolf, Adam Ant, Little Night Terrors, Micachu and the Shapes, Lucy Rose, Savages, Buenos Aires, Reverend and the Makers, Her Name Is Calla, Maybeshewill, Hey Sholay, Japandroids, Twilight Sad, Dark Dark Horse and King Charles and my mate Vault63 taped quite a few others and these should hopefully follow in the next few weeks.

Notes by the taper
this was an unexpected show for me. a friend bought tickets and couldn't go. originally i'd thought about it but with a lot going on i said i'd pass. when he decided he couldn't make it i guess it was meant to be for us. so, here we have the great richard thompson recorded in woodstock, ny recently. he had just hosted a music camp not far away including, aside from himself, sons teddy & jack thompson, sloan wainwright, martin simpson and happy traum and more. this show was scheduled during that week and sold out very fast. the show was mostly short sets with a few different combinations and then a big closing finale. john sebastian even guested on harmonica with happy traum. i stood at the back of the small hall and with lots of activity, especially at the beginning of the sets, you can hear the occasional rustling against my recorder. i had to put in some work on this but overall i think it's pretty good. what you have here is about 3 hours of great music. i'll list the info below aside from it being in the info file.
